Investor Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Anyone can invest on the WeFunder platform, up until our $500,000 goal is met. Accredited investors can invest directly into the cap table.

  • Founder Steve Sutton and his family own more than 50% of the company, with the remaining ownership spread among co-founders and original angel investors. At the end of this round, the goal is to bring in capital, keep the founders vision intact, and create an option pool of shares for future key personnel.

  • There is no guarantee you will ever be able to sell your shares. TransparentSea is a privately-held company with no public market for its shares.

  • It depends on the year. Each year, the board of directors will vote to either disburse any profits as pro-rata dividends or reinvest those profits into company growth and stability. Profits are expected to be realized starting in year 3 or 4.

  • While we have spent 5 years substantially de-risking the technology and market, there is still considerable risk in this investment. Shrimp are live organisms and the political and regulatory environment in California, USA is not something we control. Please contact us for a specific list of risks and mitigation apporaches.

  • We are seeking a $15M pre-money valuation for this Series A round.

  • It was done by using real numbers from our pilot facility to project annual revenue when fully operational, times a common industry multiplier. (4x revenue).

    Other indoor agriculture companies have successfully raised at valuations of $21M, $100M or even $500M or more, but we have focused plans to get to profitability rather than seeking to push the valuation.
